GCS Calcium Chloride

Calcium Chloride

High-performance calcium chloride for drilling fluids, enhancing shale stability and fluid density.

Product Overview

GCS Calcium Chloride (CaCl₂) is a highly effective inorganic salt widely used in oilfield operations for brine formulation, shale stabilization, and fluid density control. Its high solubility and strong ionic properties make it an essential additive in water-based drilling fluids (WBM), completion fluids, and workover systems where maintaining wellbore stability and proper pressure balance is critical.

When dissolved in water, calcium chloride increases fluid density and reduces water activity, helping to inhibit clay swelling and stabilize reactive shale formations. This minimizes wellbore instability issues such as sloughing, dispersion, and collapse. In addition, calcium chloride brines are commonly used in completion operations to provide a clean, solids-free fluid that protects the formation while maintaining hydrostatic pressure. It performs reliably across a wide range of temperatures, salinity conditions, and challenging drilling environments, including offshore, deepwater, and high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) wells.
